Schubert's Great Quintets

May 3rd at 3 pm
Staunton Music Festival

This performance features period instruments in two of Schubert's greatest chamber music creations. The familiar "Trout" Quintet for Fortepiano and Strings is named after a simple tune used as the basis for a delightful theme and variations, but that is only one of five affecting movements. The C-major String Quintet stands out for the unusual scoring (standard string quartet plus additional cello) and emerged in the final days of Schubert's life.

Print Making and Rubber Stamp Carving
